The processing process of nut shell activated carbon mainly includes the following steps:

  2. Crushing and screening plant: the selected nut shell is broken to make its particle size meet the requirements of the subsequent process. The crushed nut shells are then graded by a screening device so that a uniform porous structure can be formed in the subsequent carbonization process.

  4. Activation process: the activation process is another key step in the production of activated carbon from nut shells. The activation treatment is to further improve the adsorption performance of activated carbon in nut shell. In the activation furnace, the carbonized products are reacted with water vapor or carbon dioxide to produce more micropores and mesoporous pores on the surface of the carbon. It is also necessary to control temperature, atmosphere and time in the activation process to obtain an ideal activated carbon structure.
  5. Washing and drying: after activation, some ash and impurities remain on the surface of activated carbon in the nut shell, which needs to be rinsed. The rinsing process generally uses acid-base solution or pure water to wash to remove impurities and ash on the surface of activated carbon. During the washing process, attention should be paid to controlling the temperature and concentration of the washing water to avoid damage to the activated carbon. The rinsed nut shell activated carbon needs to be dried to remove the water inside and improve its adsorption performance. The drying process is generally carried out by high temperature hot air drying equipment to accelerate the evaporation of water and remove the internal water.
  6. Finished product processing: after drying, the activated carbon of the nut shell was crushed and sieved again to obtain the particle size distribution meeting the requirements of use. This step is essential to ensure the performance of activated carbon in practical applications.
  7. Inspection and packing: the finished nut shell activated carbon needs to be tested for quality, including adsorption properties, ash, moisture and other indicators. Only the activated carbon that meets the quality standards can be sold from the factory. After the quality test is qualified, the activated carbon will be packaged to facilitate subsequent use and transportation, usually using plastic bags or woven bags for packaging to prevent the product from moisture and damage during transportation and storage.
